For Students Attending Utah State University Uintah Basin
Utah State University Uintah Basin Scholarship
Presented to undergraduate students attending Utah State University Uintah Basin. Award amounts are to be based on GPA and as funds allow. This general scholarship is available for continuing students, transfer students, re-entry students, incoming freshmen and graduate students. Incoming freshmen must include high school transcripts to be considered for this award. Scholarships are for tuition only.

Uintah Mineral Lease Funds Scholarship
Uintah Mineral Lease Scholarships are to be given to residents of Uintah County, more specifically, Uintah County, Vernal City, Naples, and Ballard, and applicants must submit verification of residency to USU. Applicants must also be in “good standing” with USU and must be admitted or seeking admission. Applicants must be degree seeking or seeking educational enhancement for professional transitions.

Todd and Kathy Bro Scholarship
This scholarship, covering tuition and fees for one academic year, will be given to a student attending Utah State University Uintah Basin who is interested in pursuing a degree in science, math or engineering and has financial need. Recipients must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and maintain this GPA in order to continue their eligibility for the awarding of this scholarship. Applicants may submit a personal statement along with application. Candidates who work in the transportation industry or have parents who work in the transportation industry will be given special consideration for the awarding of this scholarship. Candidates will be chosen by the scholarship selection committee of the Uintah Basin Campus.

Dennis Garner Scholarship
Annual partial scholarship awarded to a deserving student with financial need and does not qualify for other scholarships. Recipient to be selected by the scholarship committee.

Frances Barnett Lewis Scholarship
To qualify as recipients of the Lewis Scholarship, students are to be enrolled at the Utah State University Uintah Basin Campus. Preference will be given to women who have completed one year of college and are without the support of a husband. They should demonstrate academic achievement having a grade point average of 3.0, show financial need, personal integrity and be seriously committed to education. Recipients to be chosen by scholarship selection committee.

Jill Goodman Scholarship
Preference to be to employees of McDonalds Restaurants of Roosevelt and Vernal. Scholarships are to be awarded on a competitive basis utilizing accepted qualifying data. Students must have been employed with McDonalds of Roosevelt or Vernal for three months. They must work a minimum of 10 hours per week for McDonalds of Roosevelt or Vernal and must have and maintain a 2.5 GPA. One $4000 scholarship is to be awarded to a Roosevelt employee and one to a Vernal employee. The Executive Director of the Uintah Basin is charged with the selection of the receiving students of this gift in accord within the provisions of this agreement and Utah State University policy.

Bob and Areva Huish Scholarship
This annual scholarship award is for a resident of Duchesne County, preferably a deserving female student or Ute Tribe member who is in need of financial assistance. Recipient of this award will be selected by the scholarship committee.

Joseph Stanley Meyrick Scholarship
Annual scholarship awarded to a deserving student with financial need having a major in the College of Business. Recipient to be selected by the scholarship committee.

Oil Atomic and Chemical Workers International and Local 2-941 Scholarship
This is an annual scholarship worth $1,000 to be given to a student attending Utah State University Uintah Basin. To be eligible, the student must have a GPA of 3.0 and must demonstrate a financial need. The student must submit an essay on the contribution made by organized labor to society. Children of former members of OCAW Local 2-941 shall be given preferential consideration of this award; however, such status shall not be the controlling factor but given due weight in the selection process along with the above described criteria. Preference shall also be given to students from labor union backgrounds and /or enrolled in a course of study related to labor relations. The recipient shall be chosen by the scholarship selection committee. The recipient of the annual scholarship shall acknowledge the award and transmit a copy of the required essay to the President of the International Union at P.O. Box 281200 Lakewood, CO 80228.

Don B. Showalter and Donna M. Showalter Scholarship
To qualify as recipients of the Showalter Scholarship, students are to be enrolled at Utah State University Uintah Basin. Preference being given to students graduating from Uintah High School and should demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, and personal integrity and be seriously committed to his or her education. Recipients shall be chosen by the scholarship selection committee.

Terry Smith Scholarship
Awarded to a student majoring in biology or other natural science area. “This scholarship is funded by the friends and family of former DWR wildlife officer Terry Smith, who loved his work, the biological sciences, high adventure, and living. This award will benefit you because he lived. In writing this essay, be aware that what we most genuinely want to know about: your dreams, strengths, and aspirations.” In keeping with the above statement, write an essay of approximately 500 words (2 pages, double-spaced typed) in which you discuss yourself, your academic and professional desires and goals as they relate to the biological and natural sciences. Make the essay your best written effort and attach it to the scholarship form as fulfillment of requirement number 9.

Alva Crosby Snow Scholarship
Student recipients of the Snow Scholarship should demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, and personal integrity. Recipients shall be students enrolled in USU classes taught at the Uintah Basin Campus and shall be chosen by the scholarship selection committee of Utah State University Uintah Basin.

Western Petroleum Scholarship
Preference to be to Western Petroleum employees and their immediate family members for six $1,000 tuition-only scholarships each academic year. Verification of employment and eligible family members to be established by Western Petroleum Company officers. Secondary preference to be given to Western Petroleum clients, their employees, and family members. Verification of eligibility in this category to be established by Western Petroleum Company officers. Scholarships are to be awarded on a competitive basis utilizing accepted qualifying data such as, but not limited to GPA and ACT scores. The Executive Director of the Uintah Basin is charged with the selection of the receiving students of this gift in accord within the provisions of this agreement and Utah State University policy.

UBMC Pink Ladies Scholarship Fund
The Uintah Basin Medical Center Pink Ladies Scholarship is made available for students attending Utah State University Uintah Basin through donations made by Uintah Basin Medical Center volunteers. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to ten students for the 2008-09 academic year. Students should demonstrate commitment to their academic achievement by having a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in order to apply for this scholarship. Preference will be given, but not limited to, residence of Duchesne County who are studying nursing or another medical-related field. The Dean/Executive Director together with the Scholarship Committee of the Uintah Basin and in consultation with the President of the Pink Ladies Association of the Uintah Basin Medical Center are charged with the selection of the receiving students of this gift in accord within the provisions of this agreement and Utah State University policy.

Zions Bank Scholarship Fund
A scholarship awarded to a student attending Utah State University Uintah Basin with academic achievement and financial need. The scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in the area of business, accounting, entrepreneurship, or other business related course of study at the Uintah Basin Campus. Recipient of this gift will be selected by the scholarship committee and the Executive Director.
