Course Confusion in Canvas?

While Canvas and Banner work together to provide students with course information, sometimes it may seem the course information is different between the two systems. If you are confused about the course section in Canvas, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions below.

Why doesn't my section code in Canvas match my section code in Banner?

Canvas shows section codes differently than Banner for administrative purposes. Regardless of the section for which the student is actually registered, Canvas will show the course origination. The most important thing for students is that they verify in Access (Banner) that they are registered for the correct section. 

Why do last semester's courses show up in Canvas?

Currently Canvas has a feature to allow students to customize their course list and show/hide what shows up there, but this option is not available until there are at least 12 courses in the list. Students may ignore already completed courses.

Why are my courses not showing up in Canvas?

At any given time, there could be a 3 to 6 hour delay from the time the student is registered in Access (Banner) to when the course actually appears in Canvas. Sometimes this time delay can be extended, but this will be noted on the Canvas login screen. If you do not see your courses in Canvas, wait a few hours and try again.
